THIS IS A PLACE FOR NOTICING,
BECAUSE NOTICING IS WHERE CONNECTING BEGINS

A sparrow fart is an old phrase for dawn. A sprawk is a sparrowhawk. One is about beginnings. The other is about paying attention.

Sparrow Farts and Sprawks is a place for both.

This is my place to write about wildlife, nature, mental health, conservation, and the increasingly strange relationship between people and the living world around them.

Some of it is funny. Some of it is bleak. Most of it is an attempt to understand what happens when a society forgets the wild things that share its space.

You don’t need to be an expert.

You only need to notice. If you have forgotten how to notice, you’re in the right place.

So put the kettle on. The world can wait five minutes. There are birds to watch, squirrels to swear at, and wild things worth noticing.
